Business + Strategic Planning

StartUp Leduc Wetaskiwin Regions Initiative is here to help connect new or potential businesses with the resources, tools and connections they need to establish the foundation of a great business that we believe will help you thrive and last long term. We do this through 4 key elements:

  1. Free training events like this one

  1.  1-1 StartUp Steps Coaching Sessions for individual resources, training and accountability

  1. 8 month SMARTstart Entreprenurial and Mentorship Cohort Program

  1. Free Mastermind Groups that meet monthly

One key foundational element is creating a business plan. We wanted to host this session today to inspire you to not just write a business plan but to be STRATEGIC. To think strategically in your planning.

Your business plan will act as a roadmap, it is your guide, your best friend. It is your accountability. It will tell you when you are doing the things you need to do or where you need to refocus yourself.

It’s going to highlight the goals and objectives you have. As well as touch on things like marketing, advertising, your management team and financials. Here’s a quick review of the 8 essential components of a business plan.

  1. Company description, including your vision/mission statement, your overall objectives, your values that you uphold personally as the owner and as a company, and a little bit of your company history (why/how did the business start and who started it or who is involved),

  2. SWOT Analysis + Competitive analysis (who are your competitors and how are you different, what are your strengths that will help you compete in the market, what are your threats and what opportunities are out there despite your weaknesses and threats…)

  3. Market research and business potential

  4. Your products and/or services

  5. Marketing and sales strategy

  6. Business financials – your cash flow plan

  7. Management and organization (HR, job descriptions, SWOT of team/Organization)

  8. Systems, Processes, Best Practices + Technology

We encourage you to that no matter what stage of business you are in having a strategic plan is valuable and important to your success.
